Getting started
I just signed up. What now?
New accounts land on the teacher dashboard with a seeded demo (the Avery family — three students, a quarter of grades, sample standards) so you can click around without configuring anything. When you're ready to start your real workspace, go to Settings → Data & demo → Reset demo and start adding your own students.
How do I add a student?
From the teacher portal, go to Students → Add student. You'll enter their name, grade level, and (optionally) an email address if you want to give them their own login. Without an email, they exist only as a record you manage yourself.
How do I add a subject?
Curriculum → New subject. From there you can build out units and lessons; each lesson can have rich-text content, attached files, and tagged state standards.
Gradebook
How are grades calculated?
Each assignment belongs to a category (test, quiz, worksheet, journal, typing). Categories have weights you set in Settings → Default policy. If a category has no entries in the current term, its weight redistributes across the categories that do — so an empty bucket can't drag the average. You can override weights per subject in Settings → Subject overrides.
Can I change the letter scale?
Yes. Settings → Letter scale lets you set the percent cutoff and GPA value for each letter (A, A−, B+, etc.). The change applies everywhere — gradebook, report cards, transcripts.
Compliance & records
How do I export records for the state?
The Compliance page generates a single ZIP that includes report cards, transcripts, attendance summaries, and grade reports. Pick the term, choose which students to include, and click Generate bundle. The ZIP contains CSV, XLSX, PDF, and JSON copies of each record.
Which states' standards are supported?
North Carolina is seeded out of the box (~1300 K–8 standards parsed from DPI publications). You can paste any state's catalog as CSV in Standards → Import.
AI assistant
What can the assistant do?
It can draft assignments, write feedback on submissions, propose planner items, rewrite policies, generate report-card commentary, and 20+ other actions. Every action is a proposal — the assistant shows you what it wants to do and waits for your click before saving anything.
What if the AI is offline?
The portal still works. The assistant falls back to a placeholder draft so you can see what shape the output would have been; nothing else is affected.
Account
How do I close my account?
Email support@homora.school from the address on your account. We'll confirm and delete the workspace within 30 days.
Where can I report a bug?
Email support@homora.school with screenshots and the URL where the issue happened. If it's a security issue, send it to security@homora.school instead.
